ANANDA YOGA

Private & Group Yoga Instruction in Halifax & Dartmouth

About

Marie Apaloo, creator of Ananda Yoga, began practicing yoga 15 years ago while living in Vancouver. Since then, she’s always returned to yoga as a pillar of support through her diverse experiences of working, studying, and travelling abroad. In 2024, following a period of burnout and chronic neck and pain, she decided to pursue her long-held dream of completing her 200-hour yoga teacher training in Montreal. Through the training and consistent practice, she expanded her knowledge of the yoga system and was able to heal from chronic pain. She now seeks to extend the healing benefits of yoga to others.

Marie teaches hatha yoga and is influenced by Sivananda yoga, gentle yoga, and healing yoga practices. With a background in language education, she brings a strong pedagogical awareness to her approach. She encourages her students to challenge themselves while maintaining respect for their individual bodies, needs, and limitations. She is a lifelong learner, always seeking to further her knowledge and share those learnings with her students.
